My Anabantoids (labyrinth fish)

My betta fish:

Full Name: King Jonathan the 1st.
Nickname: King
Gender: Male
Type of Fish: Betta
Colors: Black, dark blue, and red.
Tail Type: Crowntail!
Personality: Slightly shy around humans, aggressive around fish, didn't really "sneak up" on food, only really came out of hiding to eat.
Size Tank: 1/2 Gallon,  then upgraded to 2.5 Gallon.
Notes: Died from Dropsy, just over 2 years old.  Had velvet.  Was a gift.  King was named after King Jonathan (Jon) from Tamora Pierce's books.

Full Name: Queen Thayet the 1st.
Nickname: Thayet, Thay
Gender: Female
Type of Fish: Betta
Colors: Same as King!
Tail Type: Veiltail
Personality: Friendly to humans, hated other fish, would slowly swim under food then attack it when being fed, loved attention, would nip fingers.
Size Tank: 3.5 Gallon, I refused to put her in anything smaller until the day she died as a hospital tank.
Notes: Died of Columnaris.  Lived with Aphrodite, and Zoey. Was also a gift.  Thayet was named after Queen Thayet in Tamora Pierce's books.

Full Name: Aphrodite Aqua Whitlock.
Nickname: Aphrodite, Aphro
Gender: Female
Type of Fish: Betta
Colors: Same as King, and Thayet except she had no red, and she had a blue-green color too.
Tail Type: Veiltail
Personality: Not friendly towards humans, hated other fish, ate a lot more than Zoey, hid most of the time.
Size Tank: 3.5 Gallon
Notes: Died of Ick. Lived with Thayet, and Zoey.  I bought her at the same time as Zoey.  Aphrodite was named after Aprhodite from the House of Night books, and Jasper Whitlock from Twilight.

Full Name: Zoey Astell Whitebird
Nickname: Zoey, Zo
Gender: Female.
Type of fish: Betta
Colors: White
Tail Type: Veiltail
Personality: Friendly towards humans, got along fine with other fish until the other fish got sick except for occasional fin-nipping, wouldn't come out of hiding when I first got her because the other two kept attacking her, loves attention, will not nip fingers.
Size Tank: 3.5 Gallon
Notes: DISAPPEARED! Lived with Thayet, and Aphrodite.  I bought her at the same time as Aphrodite.  Most friendly fish I have ever owned, even more friendly than Thayet, who was friendly until I got Zoey, and Aphrodite.  Zoey was named after Zoey Redbird from the House of Night books.

Full Name: Jack Mitchell Spazz Nightwing
Nickname: Jack
Gender: Male
Type of fish: Betta
Colors: Pink, red, light blue, purple, and orangish.
Tail Type: Crowntail
Personality: Friendly sometimes, shy mostly, not interested in other fish, was "spazzing" when I got him at the store has calmed down a bit, hides a lot.
Size Tank: 2.5 Gallons.
Notes: Died from internal, and external parasites.  When I was at the store I was looking for a pink, or purple male betta, a crowntail that looked like King, or a red halfmoon (with a full halfmoon tail, no deltas!), then I found Jack! A Pinkish-orangish, Crowntail with a little bit of purple, red fins, and almost a full halfmoon tail! Basically everything I was looking for in one fish.  Jack was named after Jack the Pumpkin King from Tim Burton's Nightmare Before Christmas, and Jack Twist from the House of Night books.  His middle name (Mitchell) was also the name of the main vampire from Being Human (UK version!), and his "last name" was the character Count Nightwing from R.L.Stine's Goosebumps Vampire Breath.

Full Name: Zip
Nickname: None
Gender: Male
Type of Fish: Golden Gourami
Colors: Orange
Tail Type: Normal??
Personality: Friendly, not really shy, doesn't beg for food like the Platys.
Size Tank: Originally in a 55 Gallon Gourami tank, currently in a 6.6 Gallon community tank, and soon will be back in the 55 Gallon, only not with other Gouramis this time!
Notes: When you watch him for a few minutes he'll swim up to where you are and start waving his feelers! It looks like he's waving at you.  When I got him he was missing the bottom half of his tail fin.  Now it's pretty much grown back, but his other fins are slightly frayed.

Full Name: Damien Shadowe
Nickname: Damien, Day
Gender: Male
Type of Fish: Betta
Colors: Black, White, and Blue
Tail Type: Super-Delta
Personality: A little cautious still, but sometimes swims to the front of the tank when I walk by.
Size Tank: 6.6 Gallons
Notes: Couldn't force myself to leave him at the Pet store when I saw him! :) I'd been looking for a black, or mostly black Betta for a while, and halfmoons are my favorite.  Super-deltas are the closest thing to halfmoons, and he's black.  I'm very happy with this little guy!

Full Name: Cinder Fire
Nickname: Cinder, "Cinderman" (after Slenderman)
Gender: Male
Type of Fish: Betta
Colors: Copper
Tail Type: Halfmoon plakat
Personality: The most active Betta I've ever had!
Size Tank: 10 Gallons
Notes: I taught a fish keeping class, and needed a fish to put in the class tank.  I had decided on a Betta before I even started the class, I found Cinder at a local Petsmart! A good find if I do say so myself :)

Almost all my fish are named after book/movie characters :)

Quick facts:
Bettas need at LEAST 3.5 Gallons of water, a filter, a heater, lights, and a thermometer!
Fish are not as easy to keep as most people think.
Guppies are also called "Millions Fish" because they have so many babies!
Bettas, and some other fish have an organ called the "Labyrinth" which allows them to breathe air.

What do you think about that?
